Smart Schools

On June 22, 2023, a special event was held at Shiksha Bhavan in Kolkata to transform 22 government primary schools into “smart schools.” The goal was to give students access to digital learning tools and create an inclusive educational environment where every child can benefit from modern technology.

Providing Digital Tools to Empower Students
The initiative aimed to equip 22 schools in Kolkata with important digital tools like laptops, desktops, projectors, whiteboards, and other technology. This effort helps ensure that no student is left behind and every child has access to the digital world in a positive way. By doing so, it helps create a fairer and more inclusive education system for government school students.

Enhancing Education with Technology
Smt. Nabanita Banerjee, Director of The WE Foundation, shared how digital tools can improve education. “Giving students access to digital tools early on is crucial for their future. Our goal is to support teachers by adding digital resources that make learning more engaging and enjoyable,” she said.

A New Era for Education in West Bengal
This is the first time in West Bengal that the government, and The WE Foundation have introduced digital learning centers in government schools. Over 5,000 students and 250 teachers will benefit from this transformation. Teachers can now use technology to make their lessons more interactive and engaging for students.

This project is an important step toward creating a more digitally inclusive society in West Bengal and India. It helps students learn how to use technology in a positive way from an early age.
