The WE Foundation (TWF) is a registered non-profit organization in Kolkata, India, established in February 2011 under The Indian Trust Act 1882. Born out of a collective commitment to equity and dignity, TWF is a grassroots development organization led by a team of experienced professionals from the development sector. Since scaling operations in January 2019, we have grown into a credible social impact organization serving thousands of lives across India.
We believe that real, lasting change starts at the community level. Our Focus Areas — Building Sustainable Communities
TWF is a community development NGO and sustainable development NGO that works at the intersection of health, education, livelihood, and environment. Our areas of intervention are carefully designed to address the root causes of poverty and marginalization. As a development sector NGO in India, we prioritize:

Empowering Women, Children, and Marginalized Communities
At the heart of TWF’s work is a deep commitment to the most vulnerable — women, children, and marginalized communities. As a women and child welfare NGO, we recognize that when women are equipped with skills, knowledge, and resources, they transform not just their own lives but the lives of their families and communities.
Our experience shows that extreme poverty disproportionately affects women and children in both urban and rural settings. As an NGO for child development in India and an NGO supporting marginalized communities, TWF reaches migrant and marginalised populations, rural youth, urban slum dwellers, and tribal groups with targeted support programs. We walk alongside them — from the first step of awareness to the last mile of sustainable independence.
Through our NGO for livelihood development programs, we have helped hundreds of women build income-generating enterprises, join self-help groups, and access financial services — creating genuine economic resilience at the grassroots.
