Winter Camp

The We Foundation organised a three day winter camp which was an educational camp cum fun. Syllabus based learning was mainly focused with the necessary skills required in a student’s day to day life and for the future. The main focus of the winter camp was to improve their basic skills and inbreeding in them the concept of E- Learning. To learn about the progress of the students through this camp we organised pre and post assessment.  Building analytical skills of 100 students through use of numerical. The main objective of the camp was to enhance the student’s language structure and numerical structure. First time in Kolkata with more than 100 children participated in the winter camp in two government schools of Kolkata. The objective of the number structure is to teach them about the seriation and number value. Providing them with graded reading cards to make them understand about the different symbols, letters, words used in writing a proper sentence. Inbreeding e-learning techniques of education in at least 100 children. Environment friendly products were used in art and craft class to make them aware about being eco-friendly.

Activities:

  • Emphasis was given on language structure and numerical structure.
  • Aural and oral activities like poems were recited both in English and Bangla followed by arts and crafts.
  • Number games were shown through the projector.
  • Other fun activities like antakshari, storytelling and mental math was done.
  • Origami using newspaper, magazine, drawing, colouring, finger and palm painting.

Impact Of the Winter Camp :  The readability skills of the students were enhanced. The skills to frame sentences were improved. They were able to remember the rhymes learnt as they were taught using action. As it was a fun based camp there were some learning games through which it had an impact on their learning skills, speaking skills, and hearing skills. There was a storytelling class also through which their conversation skills were improved. Through this camp both their reading and writing skills were improved.
