Sustainable EnterprisesThe We Foundation is one of the best NGO to work for in India that is dedicated to create sustainable opportunities for women and youth across rural and urban areas in India. As India’s rapid economic growth over the last two decades has brought both opportunities and challenges, our focus is on nurturing start-ups and enhancing existing businesses led by women and youth, helping them evolve into resilient social enterprises. As the country has embraced industrialization and urbanization, we’ve seen significant strides in development. By promoting environmentally friendly practices and resource-efficient ventures, we empower communities to fight poverty and achieve long-term success so that “no one is left behind”.
We support the following initiatives:
- Mapping local resources, including natural, infrastructural, financial, social, and human resources.
- Identifying the needs of the poor, as well as potential youth and women groups with hidden talents and the potential to run their own businesses.
- Supporting the adoption of innovative and environmentally-friendly technologies and practices.
- Facilitating the creation of new products and the timely delivery of services.
- Strengthening environmentally resilient and green microenterprises.
- Enabling value chain links and market access by connecting smallholders to markets.
- Generating demand through product promotion, participation in melas, fairs, etc.
- Collaborating with partner companies to facilitate knowledge sharing and drive innovation.
- Enabling the sanction of business loans from MSMEs for business expansion.
- Promoting the piloting of new and innovative businesses.
Interventions in rural areas include:
- Livestock farming: Poultry farming, goat rearing, cattle rearing.
- Promoting kitchen gardens, fruit orchards, and vegetable cultivation.
- Producing jute products such as carry bags, conference bags, handbags, mats, gifts, etc.
- Encouraging organic farming and the cultivation of organic food staples.
