The WE Foundation believes education can change lives. Through our eSarvaShiksha program, we’re making digital learning a reality for children in Kolkata’s municipal schools. What started as a pilot project has now grown into a powerful initiative, impacting hundreds of students and teachers in the city.
A Strong Start for Young Learners
The eSarvaShiksha program began in 7 schools, helping around 50 students, from Pre-primary to 5th grade, learn through digital education. By using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) lessons, we made learning more fun, interactive, and practical. Our goal was simple: to give these students the skills and tools they need for the future.
Growing the Impact
With the support of India Carbon Limited, eSarvaShiksha is now reaching even more students. This year, we’re expanding the program to 15 schools and helping at least 250 students. And we’re making sure no child gets left behind. For students who don’t have access to smartphones or digital devices, we provide workbooks and offline reading materials so they can continue learning without interruption.
Training Teachers for Success
For digital learning to work, teachers need the right skills. That’s why we’re providing teacher training in partnership with Cognizant. We’re teaching teachers how to use digital tools, mobile devices, and how to improve English communication skills.
So far, over 150 teachers have been trained through Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the program. With these new skills, teachers can make lessons more engaging and effective, helping their students succeed.
