Livelihood

Promoting sustainable livelihood for social inclusion and economic empowerment of the underprivileged

Why Livelihood?

India has a young population, with 52% of people under the age of 30. By 2027, India is expected to have the largest workforce in the world. However, unemployment remains high, especially among young people from underserved communities. The problem isn’t that there are no jobs, but that many young people, even those with education, lack the skills needed for work. To tackle this, we need to equip youth with the skills that will make them employable and help them keep up with the changing job market.

Having a stable livelihood is key to living a good life. It means being able to support yourself and your family, while also having the chance to grow, learn, and contribute to your community. At The WE Foundation, we believe everyone should have access to opportunities that can improve their lives, especially those facing challenges like poverty or lack of resources.

When people have stable livelihoods, they feel more confident and independent. This helps build stronger and more resilient communities. By supporting sustainable livelihoods, we create lasting solutions that benefit both individuals and the community, leading to long-term positive change.

What Do We Do?

The We Foundation works to help people, especially in underserved communities, build stable and lasting livelihoods. Our Skill Development Programs are designed to provide individuals with the practical knowledge and technical skills needed for successful careers. We focus on teaching in-demand skills that prepare our beneficiaries for the workforce and enable them to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.

By collaborating with industry leaders, government agencies, and expert trainers, we ensure that our programs are both accessible and aligned with the latest industry standards. This way, our participants are equipped with the most relevant skills for today’s job market, setting them up for long-term success.

We work closely with industry experts, government organizations, and trainers to make sure our training is not only accessible but also up-to-date with what employers are looking for.

Adolescent Skilling

At The We Foundation, we believe in giving young people the skills they need to succeed in life and work. Our Adolescent Skilling programs are designed to help teens and young adults build practical skills, gain confidence, and prepare for their future careers.

We focus on both job-specific skills and life skills, like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are important in any job. Our programs cover areas such as sales, IT, customer service, healthcare, and more—helping young people discover their interests and prepare for a variety of career paths.

We work with schools, local organizations, and industry experts to provide training that is up-to-date with current job market needs. Whether it’s helping them get their first job or start their own business, our goal is to give young people the tools they need to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

Through our Adolescent Skilling programs, we aim to reduce youth unemployment and empower young people to shape their own careers, create new opportunities, and make a positive impact in their communities.

Youth Skilling

At The We Foundation, we focus on helping young people gain the skills they need to start successful careers. Our Youth Skilling programs provide hands-on training, along with support to help them find jobs and thrive in their new roles.

We combine skills training with placement support to make sure youth are fully prepared for the job market and have the help they need to succeed.

Program Structure:

  1.  Counselling: We begin by talking to each individual to understand their interests, strengths, and career goals. This helps us guide them to the best training path.
  2.  Enrollment: Once we’ve identified the right program, we help youth enroll in training courses that match their interests and current job market needs.
  3.  Training: Our training covers both practical job skills and soft skills like communication and problem-solving. We focus on areas like IT, customer service, healthcare, sales, and more, depending on what’s in demand.
  4.  Placement: After completing the training, we help place young people in jobs that match their skills and career goals, giving them a great start to their careers.
  5.  Post Placement Support: Even after they get the job, we continue to offer support to help them adjust to their new role and overcome any challenges they may face.

Through our Youth Skilling programs, we help young people gain confidence, find meaningful work, and build strong, successful careers.

Sustainable Enterprise

India’s rapid economic growth has created many opportunities, but it has also left many women and young people facing challenges in accessing the resources and markets they need. At The We Foundation, we believe that businesses focusing on both the environment and society can bring lasting change. Our goal is to help women and youth start and grow businesses that can break the cycle of poverty, build wealth, and contribute to a fairer and stronger India.
We work with women and youth across rural and urban India, giving them the tools, support, and knowledge they need to turn their ideas into successful businesses. We help entrepreneurs use eco-friendly practices, create new products, and reach bigger markets. This not only helps them grow but also strengthens local economies and reduces harm to the environment.
Our approach focuses on helping entrepreneurs make the most of the resources around them, such as natural resources, community support, and financial tools. We encourage them to use green technologies and sustainable practices, and we help connect small businesses with larger markets. We also support entrepreneurs in finding funding to grow their businesses. By promoting new business ideas that have a positive social or environmental impact, we help drive innovation. We also work with other organizations to share ideas and best practices.

Our work focuses on empowering women and young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to become entrepreneurs. We also encourage businesses that care for the environment and make sure that even the most vulnerable people benefit from economic growth. Through our efforts, The We Foundation has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs create businesses that are both profitable and good for the environment. We’ve connected small producers with bigger markets, supported green businesses, and helped create innovative solutions to economic and environmental challenges, paving the way for a brighter future for all.

Recognition Art and Culture

Art and culture are not just beautiful—they are also powerful tools for creating livelihoods. The We Foundation helps people in creative fields, such as arts, crafts, and cultural traditions, by giving them the skills and support they need to turn their talents into sustainable businesses. The We Foundation supports artists, artisans, and cultural initiatives that contribute to the economic and social growth of communities. One of our proudest initiatives is the Sharad Shamman Award, a unique project that adds a new dimension to Durga Puja celebrations by focusing on community service, social impact, and the joy of giving back. By showcasing the impactful work of these committees, we aim to inspire more Puja Committees to give back to society, promoting a culture of giving that strengthens communities and creates lasting positive change.
