Sharad Shamman

The We Foundation is proud to present the Sharad Shamman Award, an initiative that brings a new dimension to Durga Puja celebrations by focusing on community service, social impact, and the joy of giving back. With the theme “Lighting Up Faces with Smiles by Promoting the Art of Giving,” this campaign honors Durga Puja Committees that extend their efforts beyond the festival to enrich the lives of those around them.

What We Aim to Do

  • Celebrate and Reward: Recognizing Durga Puja Committees not only for their artistry in pandal creation but also for their commitment to community welfare.
  • Encourage Positive Actions: Supporting Committees that use their platforms to address social issues and contribute to causes such as health, education, and environmental stewardship.
  • Promote Giving: By highlighting outstanding efforts in community service, we aim to inspire individuals and groups to give back and make a meaningful difference.

How It Works

A large number of Durga Puja Committees participate in the Sharad Shamman Campaign. They are evaluated based on:

  1. Puja Theme and Design: The creativity, aesthetic appeal, and originality of the pandal.
  2. Social Impact: Community service projects conducted throughout the year, including:
    • Health and Nutrition Initiatives
    • Educational Programs for Children and Adults
    • Job Opportunities for Women and Youth
    • Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action
    • Disaster Relief Efforts
    • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Improvement

Awards

The Sharad Shamman Award recognizes excellence across several categories:

  • Sherar Sera: Best of all
  • Shera Protima: Best Idol
  • Shera Bhabna: Best Thought
  • Shera Alokshojja: Best Lighting
  • Judge’s Choice: Special recognition for unique qualities

Why It Matters

The Sharad Shamman Award is more than just a celebration of Durga Puja; it is an opportunity to honor those who uplift and empower their communities. By showcasing these impactful efforts, The We Foundation hopes to encourage more Puja Committees to make a difference, fostering a culture of giving that strengthens society as a whole.
