The We Foundation, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Calcutta, organized a meaningful awareness program on the nutritious benefits of coconut water in the Dhapa slum area near J.W. Marriott Hotel, Kolkata.
As part of the initiative, 400 bottles of Real Fresh Coconut Water were distributed to underprivileged children and pregnant women, offering a refreshing and nutrient-rich drink during the sweltering summer afternoon. Coconut water, known for its hydrating properties and health benefits, served as a vital source of relief and nourishment for the community.
The event also emphasized environmental responsibility, with the community actively participating by arranging dustbins and broomsticks for proper solid waste disposal, ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment.
The smiles and gratitude of the children and women were heartwarming. However, during our visit, we observed the area’s vulnerability to diseases, highlighting the urgent need for a general health check-up camp to address the health challenges faced by the slum population.
This initiative was a step towards promoting health, hydration, and environmental awareness among underserved communities, reinforcing our commitment to their well-being.
