Supplementary Nutrition Program: Prioritizing Balanced Diets for Better Health

On 30th September 2024, The We Foundation organized a Supplementary Nutrition Program at Barisha High School, focusing on addressing the nutritional needs of students and promoting healthy eating habits.

The event served 40 children, along with 8 teaching staff, including the Principal, and 4 support staff. A thoughtfully curated menu was provided, featuring:

  • Steamed Rice and Dal: A combination rich in carbohydrates and plant-based protein, supporting energy and muscle growth.
  • Crispy Potato Fritters: A source of energy-dense carbohydrates for active growing children.
  • Chicken Curry: A protein-rich dish essential for growth, development, and immune support.
  • Chutney and Papad: Adding flavor and digestive benefits to the meal.
  • Rosogolla: A calcium-rich dessert, promoting bone health while adding a touch of joy to the meal.

This initiative not only delivered a balanced meal to the school community but also highlighted the importance of incorporating diverse food groups into daily diets. By providing carbohydrates, proteins, and essential vitamins and minerals, the program aimed to boost the overall health and well-being of the participants.

The We Foundation is committed to enhancing the nutritional status of children and fostering awareness about healthy eating as a cornerstone of their development and future success.
