UNICEF: Cyclone Remal Health Response

In collaboration with UNICEF and the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, The We Foundation, one of the best NGO for women and children’s health and hygiene, is organizing free health checkup camps across the Sundarban region to support pregnant women, new mothers, and young children affected by Cyclone Remal. These ongoing camps provide essential medical services, including health checkups, immunizations, and medicines, while also offering crucial health education on nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation.

Currently, the initiative reaches patients at multiple locations, addressing critical health needs in this vulnerable area. Our goal is to conduct 133 health camps in the Sundarban region from September to mid-December 2024. This includes 109 camps in Gosaba block, 20 camps in Pathar Pratima block, and 4 camps in Namkhana block. These camps are a vital part of our efforts to enhance health outcomes and build a more resilient community. Despite facing challenges such as communication barriers and resource constraints, our commitment remains strong as we continue to work towards better health and support for the affected population.
