Why Education?

Education is one of the most powerful ways to make a positive change in the world. A report by the World Bank shows that educating girls is especially important because it benefits not just the girls, but also their families, communities, and even entire countries.

When women are educated, they are healthier, earn more money, contribute more to the economy, marry later, and make better choices for their children’s health and education. These benefits help break the cycle of poverty and support long-term growth.

The WE Foundation believes that education is the key to a brighter future, especially for children and young people in India, where many face challenges. The World Bank says that educating girls is an important part of improving the world. Educated women are healthier, earn more, have fewer children, marry later, and can provide better healthcare and education for their children.

All these benefits help lift families, communities, and countries out of poverty. The WE Foundation is committed to helping children, especially girls, get the education they deserve because we know education can change lives.

What do we do?

The WE Foundation is committed to empowering underprivileged children, slow learning children, through education. Our focus is on providing access to quality education for children who are at risk of being left behind due to poverty, gender bias, or lack of resources. We work tirelessly to create opportunities for every child to thrive, acquiring not only knowledge but also the skills, values, and confidence they need to succeed in life.

Our focus areas

Every child deserves the best education, which is why we focus on creating opportunities that empower children and teachers alike. Education is the key to transforming lives. Studies show that when girls are educated, they become healthier, earn higher incomes, and help their families thrive. Education has the power to lift entire communities out of poverty, and we are dedicated to making this a reality for underprivileged children, especially girls. Our mission is to make sure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed, no matter their background. We focus on providing the right tools and support to help children thrive in life. Here’s how we’re making a difference:

  1. Early Childhood Education (3-6 years): We recognize that the early years are crucial for a child’s development. Our programs focus on providing quality early education for children aged 3 to 6 years. By laying the right foundation at this age, we help children develop the skills they need to succeed later in life, from basic literacy and numeracy to social and emotional skills.
  2. Crèches with Education Facilities: Many parents, especially construction and brick kiln workers, often struggle to find safe and educational care for their children while they work. We set up crèches that provide childcare as well as educational activities for children aged 7 months to 10 years. This helps working parents stay employed while ensuring their children are getting a good start in life.
  3. Building Strong Early Learning Centers: We focus on strengthening early childhood care by setting up model Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) centers. These centers offer a range of services, including nutritious meals, health check-ups, and early education, helping children in underserved communities get a holistic start to life.
  4. Supporting School-going Children: We support children already in school by improving educational resources and infrastructure. This includes providing teaching materials, training teachers, and enhancing the school environment to make learning more engaging and accessible.
  5. Classroom Libraries & Mobile Libraries: We believe in the power of books to inspire learning. We work to set up libraries in classrooms and mobile libraries in communities, making books and educational materials accessible to children who may otherwise have limited access to them. These resources help promote reading, critical thinking, and creativity.
  6. Education Sponsorship for Poor Children: Many children drop out of school because their families cannot afford the fees and other costs associated with education. We provide education sponsorships to cover tuition, uniforms, books, and other expenses, ensuring that financial barriers don’t prevent children from continuing their education.
  7. Value Education for Children: Education is not just about academics. We provide value-based education that teaches children important life skills, such as respect, responsibility, and empathy. This helps them become well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to their families and communities.
  8. STEM Labs in Schools: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education is crucial for preparing children for the future. We work with schools to set up science laboratories and other STEM learning facilities. This hands-on learning helps children develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for science and technology.
  9. Community Learning Centers: For children and youth who may not have access to formal schooling, we set up community learning centers that offer educational support, tutoring, and mentorship. These centers also provide career guidance and skill development opportunities, helping young people gain the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in life.
  10. Education for Underprivileged Youth: Education doesn’t stop after school. We provide career guidance, scholarships, and mentorship to help youth from underprivileged backgrounds pursue higher education and career opportunities. This support helps them navigate the challenges of further education and unlock their potential to succeed in the job market.
  11. Creating Enabling Learning Environments: We focus on building classrooms and learning spaces that are safe, welcoming, and accessible for all students. Our goal is to make sure that every child, no matter their background, has a chance to succeed in a positive environment.
  12. Infrastructure Development: We work to improve the physical conditions of schools by constructing new buildings and upgrading old ones. This includes making sure the classrooms are spacious, clean, and properly equipped to support a quality education.
  13. Solar for Alternate Power: To ensure that education continues without interruptions, we bring solar power into schools. This helps provide a reliable, sustainable source of energy, especially in remote areas where electricity can be unreliable.
  14. Refurbishment of Classrooms: We believe in turning old and worn-out classrooms into bright, engaging places for learning. With fresh coats of paint, new furniture, and updated resources, we help create an environment where students are excited to learn.
  15. Capacity Building of Teachers: Teachers are at the heart of a great education. We invest in training teachers to enhance their skills and knowledge so they can deliver the best possible lessons and support students in their learning journeys.
  16. Teaching-Learning Tools: We introduce innovative teaching tools that make learning fun and interactive. These include visual aids, educational games, and hands-on activities that help children understand concepts in a way that feels natural and engaging.
  17. Use of Digital Tools: Technology is transforming education, and we are making sure students and teachers have access to digital learning tools. From online resources to interactive lessons, we ensure that the classroom experience is connected to the digital world and prepares students for the future.
  18. Parent Engagement: Education doesn’t stop at school. We work closely with parents to ensure they are involved in their children’s education, helping to create a strong support system at home and in the community.
