At The We Foundation, we believe that a nurturing school environment is essential for the holistic development and mental well-being of students. In collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta, we embarked on a transformative journey to turn a Government Girls’ High Secondary School into a “Happy School.”
Through this initiative, we focused on creating a space where students feel safe, valued, and inspired. Our efforts included:
- Repairing the handwashing station to promote hygiene and health.
- Facilitating a cleanliness drive to instill a sense of pride and responsibility among students.
- Planting trees alongside students, fostering environmental consciousness and joy.
- Repairing the pavement area to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Installing a drinking water station for clean, safe hydration.
- Providing an incinerator for the safe disposal of sanitary napkins, addressing a crucial yet often neglected need for adolescent girls.
But we didn’t stop there. To empower young minds, we laid the groundwork for a STEM learning center in the school, offering students the tools and opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The transformation of this school into a Happy School is more than a physical makeover—it’s a mental health revolution. By creating a cleaner, safer, and more engaging environment, we’re fostering a sense of belonging, reducing stress, and inspiring hope among the students.
Together, we’re not just changing a school; we’re changing lives.
